Herman Miller is continuing its longstanding involvement in the demountable wall business with the announcement of a new alliance with Trainor Modular Walls, a division of Trainor Glass Company. Trainor Modular Walls, based in Farmers Branch, Texas, produces modular full-height walls, doors and hardware, which will be distributed exclusively through Herman Miller’s North American dealer network beginning February 8, 2010.

Trainor Glass Company, a privately held family business now in its second generation of leadership, was established in 1953 by Robert Trainor Sr. in Chicago, Illinois, to primarily service the residential market. The business since has experienced dramatic growth, with revenues now exceeding $170 million annually, through expansion into commercial and retail markets, while becoming one of the largest glass and framing systems fabricators within the United States.

Its modular wall division is built on Trainor’s more than 40 years of industry experience, complemented by a large multi-regional manufacturing and service capability, which makes the company an ideal alliance partner for Herman Miller, according to Mary Stevens, Senior Vice President of Product Management.

“Trainor understands the importance of quality and providing industry-leading solutions and service to its customers,” says Stevens. “Overall, this alliance will take our demountable wall offer to another level and enhance our ability to create adaptable interior solutions that optimize space for evolving business needs.”

Trainor CEO Robert Trainor Jr. adds, “We’re very excited about the future of modular walls and teaming with a company like Herman Miller and its dealer network. There are great synergies between us.”
