Pallas Textiles Breaks Ground With It’s First Biodegradable Polyurethane Collection

Laura Guido-Clark’s Ground Breaking Collection Offers Sophisticated Design with Minimal Environmental Impact
GREEN BAY, WIS. – Pallas Textiles has again partnered with Laura Guido-Clark to create Ground Breaking, one of the textile industry’s first biodegradable polyurethane collections and an extension of the environmental premise behind her first collection for Pallas, Simply Real. Inspired by nature’s layering of color, the collection of solids features sophisticated yet subtle neutrals and unapologetically optimistic brights. Ground Breaking offers a spectrum of 18 SKUs for corporate, education, healthcare or hospitality spaces.
“With Ground Breaking, we wanted to create a beautiful, high-performance upholstery collection that is also respectful of the environment,” said Guido-Clark, principal, LG-C Design. “After significant research on material and color, we were able to design a biodegradable fabric that is iridescent without being shiny and offers a silky hand. We selected the palette according to the way nature layers color – neutrals found under and on the surface of the earth and brights found on flowers, grasses and blossoming trees.”
The collection is made from a biodegradable polyurethane face with a low VOC (volatile organic compound) content and is PVC (polyvinyl chloride) free, also referred to as vinyl-free. Ground Breaking is also free of antimony, heavy metals and is 99.9 percent solvent-free. To further reduce its impact on the environment, Ground Breaking is manufactured in a highly energy-efficient facility that recycles 99 percent of all water and raw materials used in production.
“This collection supports the environmental premise of previous collections like Tribute and Simply Real while taking the initiative one step further,” said Dean Lindsley, vice president of operations and product development, Pallas Textiles. “We continually look for innovative designers, new materials and breakthrough technologies to minimize our collections’ impact on the environment. Good design is a major factor in this initiative. A beautiful and timeless piece will remain in a space for years.”
Ground Breaking includes 18 SKUs in two color groupings. Neutrals include Snow, Pearl, Mineral, Copper, Stone, Slate, Chocolate, Coal and Wheat. The brights include Sunrise, Brick, Peony, Sea Misty, Grass, Sea Foam, Sky, Twilight and Eggplant.
